Kali's Gift to the Mothers

It was a dark night. In many homes, children lay peacefully asleep while their mothers stayed awake. Worries, exhaustion, self-doubt, and the pressure to do it all weighed heavily on their hearts.

Then Kali stepped out of the darkness. Her eyes blazed like fire, her hair swirled like a storm. The women were startled.

But a wise old woman spoke: “Do not be afraid. Kali does not fight against people, but against everything that keeps women small – against guilt, shame, and the idea that they must be perfect.”

With a mighty shout, Kali drove the dark thoughts from the mothers’ hearts. She reminded the women that motherhood is a never-ending challenge and that they, too, deserve protection and care.

Among them was Anaya. She loved her children with all her heart, but she was tired. She always put her own needs last and believed she had to be strong at all times.

Kali stepped toward her and said, “Look into my face.”

As Anaya looked into the goddess’s eyes, she recognized her own feelings: anger, fear, exhaustion, sadness, and a longing for freedom.

“These feelings don’t make you a bad mother,” said Kali. “They make you human.”
Then drums began to sound.

“Dance!” Kali urged.

Hesitantly, Anaya began to move. She stomped her feet on the ground, shook the tension out of her body, laughed, cried, and let go of everything she had held back for so long. She danced not as a perfect woman, but as a woman with joy and pain.

Kali called out to her: “You are allowed to set boundaries. You are allowed to be tired. You are allowed to be angry. You are allowed to be exactly how you feel right now.”

As she danced, the darkness began to give way to the day.

At the first light of morning, Kali spoke to Anaya: “Being a mother doesn’t mean being perfect. It means loving again and again, facing your own doubts, and moving forward.”
Then the goddess vanished.

But from that day on, Anaya felt Kali’s power in every heartbeat, in every embrace, in every courageous “no,” and in every joyful “yes” to life.
